Artisan tourneur sur bois en perpétuelle recherche de la simplicité, son travail se caractérise par des lignes tendues, des formes épurées et de fines textures, un monde où la courbe est émotion. Ces dernières années, ses recherches se sont surtout portées sur le tournage du figuier frais. Les spectaculaires déformations qui accompagnent le séchage de ce bois le fascinent et ouvrent les portes de l’expérimentation.
Born in Mayenne in 1974, Yann Marot has always been interested in wood. At the same time as his studies - graduating with a diploma in Wood Engineering - he took sculpture courses, which eventually led him to the profession of woodturner. Seduced by the diversity of the profession, he created his workshop in 2002. For ten years, he divided his time between turning for cabinet making, production, and the creation of pieces; all the while navigating between technical precision and the imaginary world. In 2014, he moved to the Var and joined the training team of the Escoulen School, where he became the main trainer while continuing to work in his workshop. Filming gives him the opportunity to travel around the world and find new sources of inspiration.
