Vanessa Mitrani

Vanessa Mitrani inherited a love of experimentation from her laboratory researcher mother. A student at ENSAD (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris) in furniture design, she happily escaped from lectures to experiment with artisanal techniques in workshops. It was through "making" that Vanessa developed a passion for glass, and from her first collection in 1998, she emerged as a unique figure in the field of design. An expert in glass, which she works in various forms, she asserts her status as a designer, and her expertise, her great technical mastery, and her artistic sense opened the doors of the Musée des Arts-Décoratifs to her in 2015, where eight of her iconic pieces entered the permanent collections.

Her work is built on experimentation, and Vanessa explores glasswork through sometimes unexpected experiences. She breathes it into contact with leather, porcelain, marble, and fabric.
