Catherine Desailes

PLASTICIAN
Catherine Desailes, born September 11, 1966 in Paris. Since 2020, co-founder of her own design and publishing house: Atelier 86. My work celebrates the living in all its forms, from the infinitely small to the infinitely large. Neither figurative nor abstract, or both at the same time, it is an invitation to enter into a silent dialogue between you and yourself. Like life, which only has the meaning we give it, all these works can be contemplated in one way or the other, and this is one of their great singularities. It's up to you to see what you want to see in it, of your own reality, of yourself, and therefore of your own universe. The proposition of an artistic but above all human adventure, constantly renewed. Yalla! * Yalla means: let the party begin, the work begins!

ACHIEVEMENTS           |

SAVOIR FAIRE          |

Over the years, based on one of my "light motivs", that of "making do with what you have", I have developed various techniques, particularly with fluids: water, coffee, vinegar... which I combine for their surprising reactivity, as well as a certain type of inks. I also like working with resin for its potential for transparency and depth, a magical asset, omnipresent for several years in all my creations. Of course, there is also wood, paper, metal... my skills are multiple and constantly evolving, and are part of both traditional and innovative know-how. It is as a tool that I bear witness in the material, to what I perceive, making visible and tangible, this invisible so present.
