SCULPTURE SUR BOISWOOD SCULPTURE

Vincent Poyen

Inner depth is a journey. The gesture may seem immediate, yet it has matured — connecting hands to soul.

The artist — whose grandfathers were respectively a cabinetmaker and a lover of wild nature, and whose grandmother was an antique dealer — spent his childhood steeped in that world, where the scents of undergrowth, waves and snow-covered expanses mingled with the fragrances of wax and varnish. The hands working wood left an imprint that followed him through life. The choice of wood was obvious: noble, living, fragrant. Having learned the gesture from a friend who was a cabinetmaker, his sculptures grew ever larger with experience. His work seeks to bear witness to the beauty of nature and a profound respect for the perfection of what we have been given.
